Job summary

Versant Media in New York City is seeking an experienced Studio Director to lead world-class live programming across broadcast, social, and digital platforms. You will direct complex live broadcasts from a traditional control room and guide editorial decisions from day one.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years directing live television in major markets, strong command of iNEWS/Vizrt, and a proven ability to manage crews under pressure. This DGA-covered role offers a dynamic, high-stakes environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years directing live television in a major market newsroom.
• Proficiency with iNEWS, Vizrt, and broadcast production systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication under pressure.
• Deep knowledge of current events and the U.S. politics landscape.
• Experience with studio and remote productions

Responsibilities

• Direct live news programming with editorial and technical excellence.
• Build and execute show rundowns with producers and editors.
• Lead technical crews including TDs, audio, graphics, and camera operators.
• Collaborate with graphics and lighting for visual presentation.
• Direct live broadcasts in a traditional control room.
• Plan and execute field and remote productions.
• Review broadcasts and provide feedback for improvement.
• Lead during breaking news and high-profile events.
• Stay current with evolving broadcast technologies and workflows.
• Adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
