Job summary

Ford Design in Long Beach is seeking a Supervisor of Theme Feasibility & Surface Development to guide cross‑functional teams from concept feasibility through final tool‑able A Surface approval. The role centers on delivering Class A surfaces that meet design intent and program requirements while coordinating with engineering and manufacturing.

This hybrid position requires four days onsite in Long Beach, with extensive leadership in design feasibility, surface development reviews, and studio

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years automotive surfacing authoring or surface feasibility experience.
• 2+ years CAD experience (Catia V5/3DX) and Data Management (TCe).
• Knowledge of Surfacing Software packages such as ISD, ICESURF or Alias.
• Experience in automotive design/feasibility development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation of Class A surface, integrating technical, feasibility, manufacturing, and program requirements.
• Lead the Design Feasibility Process from early concepts to production surfaces.
• Deliver feasible, design‑intent Class A surfaces on time.
• Lead surface development reviews and drive issue closure.
• Compile, publish, and drive closure of surface and feasibility critique sheets.
• Co‑create to identify win/win solutions aligning design vision with engineering needs.
• Create surface proposals to drive team alignment around vision and requirements.
• Lead development of feasibility surfaces throughout theme and surface development.
