Job summary

Sun Valley Community Church (SVCC) is seeking a Jr High Director for the SV Kids/Students ministry at the Mesa campus. The role leads the Student Ministry Team, guides junior high programming, and ensures alignment with SVCC's vision and values.

The ideal candidate has ministry leadership experience, a track record of mentoring volunteers, and a heart for connecting with students, families, and local schools. This position collaborates with the Next Gen team and reports to campus leadership.

Qualifications

• Education and training for vocational ministry in a large ministry context.
• Evidence of spiritual maturity and character aligned with church leadership.
• Three years of leadership experience with Junior High and Senior High age groups and volunteers.
• Strategic thinker able to drive projects to completion.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
• Effective team-building and motivational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication and customer service.
• Agreement with SVCC mission, vision, leadership distinctives, and doctrinal statement.

Responsibilities

• Campus role: influence SV Jr High vision at the assigned campus.
• Oversee Jr High budgeting, staffing, and ministry initiatives at the campus.
• Develop ministry strategies to help students meet, know, and follow Jesus.
• Equip and empower staff and volunteers to lead SV Jr High ministries.
• Create a relational, safe environment where students are known and pursued.
• Expand SV Jr High reach through local schools and community activities.
• Coordinate with the Next Gen team on content, practice consistency, and coaching.
• Partner with parents by providing resources, training, and experiences to equip families.

POSITION SUMMARY

The SV Students Jr High Director influences the direction and implementation of the Sun Valley Community Church (SVCC) vision at assigned campus. This position provides leadership to the Student Ministry Team, ministry to Junior High students and their families, and oversight of campus SV Students Jr High administrative functions. In all actions, reflects the Sun Valley Community Church (SVCC) team leadership distinctives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Campus role:

   
   
   
   

   • Serve on assigned campus influencing the direction and implementation of SV Jr High vision.

   
   

   • Provide oversight for the campus Jr High Ministry budgeting, staffing, and ministry initiatives.

   
   
   
   



2. Jr High students:

   
   
   
   

   • Build intentional ministry strategies and environments to help students meet, know, and follow Jesus.

   
   

   • Equip and empower Jr High staff and volunteers to lead the SV Jr High ministries through creating a culture of recruitment, development, training, and reproduction. Lead with and through a team.

   
   

   • Build “relational sticky” ministry where students connect with other students and volunteers, and where they feel safe, are known, and relationally pursued in a healthy manner.

   
   

   • Expand the reach of SV Jr High students through local schools and community activities.

   
   
   
   



3. Central Services Team:

   
   
   
   

   • Relate to and coordinate with the Next Gen team regarding content, ministry practice consistency, communication, and coaching.

   
   
   
   



4. Parents:

   
   
   
   

   • Partner with parents through providing resources, training, and intentional experiences, to equip parents to be the spiritual leaders of their families.

   
   
   
   

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education and training that has equipped them for vocational ministry in a large ministry context.




• Demonstrated track record of spiritual maturity and character consistent with biblical requirements for church leadership.




• Three years of experience in a leadership role in a church or related setting working with Junior High and Senior High age and teams of volunteers with a track record of building and growing student ministry.




• Strategic in nature, innovative thinker with ability to drive projects and strategies through to completion.




• Self-motivated, self-directed requiring minimal supervision.




• Effective team building skills and ability to motivate others.




• Effective customer service, relational and communication skills, both written and verbal




• Agrees and aligns with the mission, vision, leadership distinctives, and doctrinal statement of SVCC.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Three years of full-time related experience in a multi-site church setting of over 2000 members/attenders.
