Job summary

Indiana University of Pennsylvania is seeking four health sciences students to serve as paid research raters for an interdisciplinary study on storytelling and empathy in healthcare education. Training, including CITI certification, is provided, with calibration sessions led by the research team.

Successful candidates will independently score blinded responses using a validated rubric and contribute to a publishable project at the intersection of healthcare, humanities, and education.

Qualifications

• Enrolled IUP health sciences student (undergrad or grad)
• Available to begin work in September 2026
• Interest in healthcare education or interprofessional practice
• No prior research experience required; training provided
• Complete CITI research ethics certification (training provided)
• Participate in rater calibration sessions

Job description

We are seeking four health sciences students to serve as paid research raters on a funded interdisciplinary study, Four Voices in Healthcare: A Narrative Medicine Framework for Interprofessional and Intercultural Education, coordinated by Dr. Lei Hao (Allied Health) and Dr. Dana Driscoll (Language, Literature, and Writing). The project examines how storytelling, reflective writing, and theatrical simulation can strengthen empathy, cultural competency, and interprofessional communication among healthcare students.
