Job summary

The Chicago School is seeking a full-time Mental Health Counselor to provide counseling, crisis intervention, and wellness programming for IllinoisCOM students on the Chicago campus.

Responsibilities include advising on student wellness trends, collaborating with faculty and staff, and developing programs to support adaptation to medical education while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Counselor Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
• Current Illinois license in good standing authorizing independent practice (LCPC, LCSW, licensed psychologist, or equivalent).
• Experience providing counseling, crisis intervention, and mental health support services.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to IllinoisCOM students.
• Assess concerns and determine appropriate counseling, referral, or crisis intervention.
• Provide crisis assessment and intervention for acute mental health concerns.
• Refer to community providers and coordinate continuity of care.
• Coordinate access to counseling resources, including emergencies.
