Job summary

CHADS Coalition for Mental Health is seeking a part-time Student Wellbeing Mentor to support elementary and middle school students during the school day, building confidence, resilience, and social-emotional skills.

You will mentor individually and in small groups, coordinate with teachers and families, and document progress while upholding CHADS standards. Salary is $21–$23 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Youth Development, Mental Health, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with elementary or middle school students.
  • Experience supporting social-emotional development, mentoring, or youth programming.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and technology skills.
  • Reliable transportation to assigned schools.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive mentoring relationships with elementary and middle school students.
  • Facilitate individual and small-group mentoring using CHADS Coalition's Social Emotional Well-Being curriculum.
  • Support students in developing emotional regulation, communication, problem-solving, relationships, and decision-making skills.
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, school staff, and families.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation and outcome data.
  • Ensure services meet CHADS program and quality standards.
  • Participate in agency meetings, supervision, and professional development.
  • Represent CHADS Coalition professionally within partner schools.

As a Student Wellbeing Mentor, you'll work directly with elementary and middle school students, helping them build confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, healthy relationships, problem-solving, and other social-emotional skills needed to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Preferred
  • Experience working in K-8 school settings.
  • Experience facilitating small groups or mentoring programs.
  • Knowledge of social-emotional learning, youth mental health, and suicide prevention.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.

This is a part-time, school-based position during the academic year. Mentoring sessions take place during the school day, generally between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Mentors work up to 32 hours per week and must be available for at least 15 hours per week.

Starting Salary: $21 - $23 per hour
