Job summary

Bonnabel High in Kenner, Louisiana is seeking a Dean of Students to provide educational leadership, supervise staff, and coordinate student welfare and attendance in partnership with the School Board and school administration.

The role focuses on supervising teachers, counseling staff, and partnering with parents to address behavioral concerns, while coordinating with outside agencies and ensuring comprehensive student records and discipline processes are followed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher with Louisiana Certification in Administration and Supervision (Principalship Certificate).
• Three years of successful teaching experience.
• Teaching experience at the level assigned.
• Demonstrated ability to work with various groups.
• Doctorate Degree
• Evidence of preparation for high school/middle/junior high program administration. 3. Successful School Administrative Experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the principal in providing educational leadership in relation to the coordinating and implementing of policies and procedures of the School Board, directives of the Superintendent, Regional Superintendent and those of the Division Heads.
• Supervises the teachers, counselors, and other staff as designated by the principal.
• Schedules and attends conferences with parents regarding behavioral problems.
• Works with the Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance and Regional Assistant regarding behavioral and attendance problems.
• Refers students to Guidance Department when deemed appropriate.
• Attends all Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance conferences with student and parent as requested by Principal.
• Recommends and coordinates student welfare services with outside agencies where necessary.
• Processes discipline referrals received by teachers and staff as outlined in Student Services Handbook.
• Maintains complete and fully documented records of all students referred to the dean of student services.
• Works directly with students and student related problems in regard to student welfare.
• Confers with teachers and other school personnel as necessary in the administration of disciplinary procedures.
• Interacts directly with teachers and conducts conferences regarding student supervision and classroom management techniques.
• Functions in the role of principal in the absence of the principal and assistant principal.
• Performs all other duties assigned by the Principal.

Education
