Job summary

University of Northwestern - St. Paul is seeking a student Video Editor & Producer to create, curate, and manage video content for advertising and promotional campaigns.

You will collaborate with the Marketing team to produce compelling student, faculty, staff, and alumni perspectives, both in shoots and post-production. This role offers hands-on experience with post-production workflows, asset management, and content development for UNW social media and internal use.

Qualifications

  • Video production experience including camera operation and lighting; provide reel or portfolio.
  • Video and audio editing experience with Premiere Pro or Davinci Resolve; learn Premiere Pro.
  • Willingness to learn, collaborate, and perform a wide variety of video production tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Professional, tactful interactions; uphold Northwestern’s mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Marketing team to manage, develop, and produce videos that promote the personal perspectives of students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
  • Begin, edit, and finish video editing projects including logging, basic editing, and uploading complete projects.
  • Develop, create, and finalize video content in all phases (assembling footage, raw edits, syncing, all version edits, color correction).
  • Maintain video and photo asset library; manage media, organize assets, and deliver files.
  • Assist or shoot video productions
  • Inspire the UNW community by pursuing content that shares the spirit of UNW and its people
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Position Compensation: $15.00 per hour

Position Summary:

The editor & producer is a narrative storyteller for today's students. This student will be a fresh voice in creating, maintaining, and curating, video/photo content for advertising and promotional campaigns at the University of Northwestern - St. Paul.

Student employees can expect to grow and be challenged in post-production workflows, content management as well as all aspects of developing creative video content. Finished content will be featured on UNW social media channels or internal purposes.

Hours per week: 10-15

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Required

  • Video production experience including camera operation and lighting (composition, exposure, etc.). Able to provide video reel or online portfolio.
  • Video and audio editing experience with Premiere Pro or Davinci Resolve and learn Premeire Pro
  • Willingness to learn, collaborate, and perform a wide variety of video production tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Able to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, tactful and courteous manner
  • Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Gimbal, Drone, and/or After Effects
  • Experience with color grading
  • Experience with mobile editing app

  • Punctuality & Initiative: Prompt, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting responsibilities.
  • Background Check: Must pass background check as a condition of employment.
