May perform as lead for other Tutors.* Performs other related duties as assigned.**Additional Responsibilities*** Tutor students, individually and in groups.* Facilitate learning of course material.* Lead SI (Supplemental Instruction) sessions.* Model effective learning and study strategies for content mastery.* Attend assigned classes.* Arrange and keep work hours at the ULC.* Develop and maintain a professional relationship with SI course instructors.* Maintain confidential records.* Prepare reports.* Perform other related duties as assigned.**Minimum Requirements*** Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.* Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.* Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).**Preferred Requirements*** Experience working with college/university students in an educational setting.* Tutoring experience in content area.**Knowledge and Abilities*** Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.* Ability to interact effectively, professionally, and tactfully with students, faculty, and other university personnel.* Ability to motivate students.* Ability to maintain confidentiality.* Ability to arrange and keep a work schedule.* Strong academic knowledge in content area.* Computer literate in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.* Ability to prepare and facilitate workshops, presentations, and orientations to groups of students.* Ability to think critically and problem solve.**Other Requirements*** Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.* Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.* Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.* Promptly complete all required trainings.* Submit time sheet biweekly.* Some evening and weekend work may be required.* Subject to funding and/or need.**Pay of Rate**: $10.50/hour for up to 19 hours weeklyAll positions are security-sensitive.
