Job summary

The Oakville School District is seeking a dedicated Leave Replacement Substitute Bus & Van Driver for the 2026/2027 school year, starting 8/28/2026, to safely transport students to and from school and events.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong driving skills, a focus on student safety, and clear communication with students, parents, and staff; CDL is preferred and flexibility for early mornings and afternoons is required.

Qualifications

• Requires strong communication with students, parents and staff.
• Clean driving record with safe driving history.
• Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings and late afternoons.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate school buses and vans to transport students to and from school and activities.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safe operation.
• Maintain accurate records of transportation schedules, student counts, and incidents.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and safety guidelines.
• Assist students in boarding and disembarking, ensuring safety at all times.
• Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students regarding schedules and changes.
• Manage student behavior on the bus or van to maintain a safe environment.
• Report vehicle maintenance needs or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Attend training sessions and meetings as required by the district.
