Summary

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Technician / Administrative Support Work Category at the Entry/Developmental Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA - DKAVAC-IE42.

Duties

• Prepares reports and presentations under supervision of an engineer.
• Assists in testing algorithms and models, to include generating test cases and expected data.
• Develops engineering algorithms and models using modern software languages and modeling environments.
• Assists an engineer in analyzing electromagnetic environmental effects of RF systems

Conditions of Employment

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Applicants must sign a Participant Agreement; be able to furnish course registration information at the start of each school term; and be able to provide verification of academic status (official transcript) at the end of each academic term.

Qualifications

Student Trainees qualify based on their educational achievements. To be eligible for the Student Internship Program, you must submit unofficial/official transcripts with the current enrollment period course load along with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 - The absence of this information will result in an ineligible rating.

• To qualify at the 02 - Completion of high school diploma or equivalent degree.
• To qualify at the 03 - Completion of I full academic year of post-high school study.
• To qualify at the 04 - Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
• Per OPM - Student Trainee Requirements for initial appointment - The required education must lead to a bachelor's degree with specialization in or directly related to the field in which the student trainees will receive training on the job. The degree of specialization in this field must satisfy on graduation the specific educational requirements in the qualification standard for the corresponding two-grade interval positions.
• Please Note: Trainees qualify based on semester hours and are exempt from standard Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) or Basic Requirements. However, upon completing the internship program, they must meet all applicable OPM-prescribed IOR or Basic Requirements to qualify for conversion.

Additional Information

• Upon successful completion of their academic program and the trainee program, the intern may be converted to a permanent position in the excepted service consistent with agency needs, academic achievement, and demonstrated potential. Conversion potential for this opportunity is a GG-1550-5,7,9, 11, 12 up to the full performance level of GG-1550-13. However, future budgetary events, hiring restrictions, conversion caps, or other events may preclude the conversion or conversion to a position with the full potential performance level. Please Note (99 Trainee Series): Trainees qualify based on semester hours and are exempt from standard Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) or Basic Requirements.
