Title: Student Tech Assistant

Unit: Interventional Radiology

Hours: Varied, PRN

Facility : MVH

Position Summary:

Assists Medical Imaging staff with various procedures necessary to the operational efficiency of the department. Assists with image processing, image management, and patient care. Carries out duties as directed by various Medical Imaging staff in the assigned area. Is knowledgeable in the daily activities of Medical Imaging and provides patients with the utmost quality of care. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs.

Essential Duties & Functions:

1. Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the Medical Imaging procedure.

2. Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed safety standards.

3. Assists technologists and nurses in procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.

4. Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction

5. Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.

6. Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.

Education:

Education Required: High School completion / GED

Additional requirements:

Preferred educational qualifications: Attending an AMA-accredited program of Medical Imaging

Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR certification required within 30 days of hire

Experience:

Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience

Preferred experience: Some Medical Imaging experience in an environment consistent with the types of patients and procedures performed within the Medical Imaging Department.

Knowledge/Skills:

Highly motivated, goal-oriented, with strong communication & interpersonal skills.

Ability to evaluate & prioritize department, technologist and/or nurse, & patient needs.
