Job summary

Great River Health Systems in West Burlington, IA seeks a Certified Surgical Technician to assist in operating rooms under physician supervision. You will prepare the OR, maintain the sterile field, pass instruments, and support the surgical team during procedures.

You will ensure correct case carts, monitor sterile field, count instruments, assist with dressings, and participate in room turnover. Requires H.S. Diploma or GED and completion of a certified tech program.

A Brief Overview

Assists in surgical procedures under the supervision of physicians, registered nurses and other surgical personnel.

Responsible for creating and maintaining the sterile field.

Prepares the operating room by collecting needed supplies and equipment.

Functions within the sterile field by passing instruments and other supplies to surgeons and providing visualization through retraction.

Provides high quality care to the surgical patients.

Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Graduate of a certified tech program or hospital trained through a formal education program Required

Demonstrates knowledge and ensures competency and comprehension of all regulatory standards.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safety and security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and company.
