Qualifications

• 60 college credit hours required.
• Associate's degree or higher required.
• Missouri ParaPro Assessment passing score (before September 23, 2013) or Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (after September 23, 2013) required.
• Completed Missouri's 20-hour online substitutetraining program.

Responsibilities

• Administer, score and record achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills.
• Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on individual students' needs.
• Operate and care for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
• Assist students to master equipment or instructional materials.
• Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial activities set up by the teacher.
• Assist with supervision of students during drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
• Assist with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
• Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication.
• Assist students in the library media center.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher.
• Check and record student attendance.
• Help students with clothing.
• Assist with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
• Assist with wash-up and toilet routines.
• Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about a student.
• Serve as the chief information source for substitute teachers in absence of regular teacher.
• Maintain high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
• Participate in in-service training programs as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Building administrator.
