The Learning Lamp in Ebensburg, PA is seeking a Student Support Specialist to assist students with daily living activities, provide physical and emotional support, and help implement individualized care plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is the minimum education requirement.
• Willingness to complete required clearances and training (mandated reporter training, a physical, TB test).
• Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time.
• Previous experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
• Patience, empathy, and genuine interest in supporting diverse students.
• Ability to follow instructions, work with a team, and adapt to changing situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Students with Activities of Daily Living: help with hygiene tasks, grooming, dressing, mobility and transfers.
• Provide Physical and Emotional Support: assist students with disabilities in moving; offer encouragement.
• Implement Individualized Care Plans: follow plans with teachers, nurses, and healthcare professionals.
• Support in the Classroom: collaborate with teachers, assist with instructional materials and adaptive equipment.
• Communication: maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and staff; attend meetings; foster independence and inclusive learning.
