Qualifications

• Education: GED or high school diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
• To meet Highly Qualified criteria: 2 years of college credits, an Associate's degree, or passing grade on state assessment.
• Demonstrated ability to reinforce material and guide students as set by teacher.
• Knowledge of general office software and internet use.
• Good oral and written communication with students, parents, and coworkers.
• Must have physical ability, dexterity, endurance and temperament for working with students.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction under the teacher's direction.
• Prepare classroom activities and bulletin boards under teacher guidance.
• Participate in in-service training programs.
• Assist with non-instructional duties (breakfast/snack/lunch, bathroom, clothing routines).
• Interact with students in various educational settings including media center and computer lab.
• Perform clerical duties under teacher or principal supervision.
• Assist with physical education instruction as needed.
• Assist with daily care routines (feeding, toileting).
• Perform other duties for student safety and organizational effectiveness.
