Job summary

Job description

General Summary

The Student Support Coordinator supports students, teachers, and the building administrator by addressing behavior challenges. The student support coordinator participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings and services to maximize student social, emotional, and educational success.

Qualifications (Minimum)
Professional
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or social work
  • Experience in leading academic and social skills groups
  • Familiar with MTSS (RTI and PBIS)
  • Ability to collaboratively work with all staff and students and families
  • Professional level writing skills
  • Ability to use or to learn new technology expediently
  • Demonstrates professional level organization and time management
  • Ability to implement Cognitive Behavioral therapy preferred
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students
  • Performs a variety of duties to assist in managing and support academic and behavior in the school
  • Works to establish a safe and secure learning environment for students
  • Comply with all district procedures
  • Participate in building Students Assistance Teams and processes (RTI)
  • Engage in crisis prevention and intervention services (CPI)
  • Participate in area meetings as required
  • Participate in building meetings as directed by the Building Principal and/or Superintendent
  • Coordinate testing efforts for students in grades 7-12
Student Support
  • Utilize a variety of research-based intervention strategies, continually assessing students’ response to intervention and make modifications as needed to ensure all children are successful (trauma informed, restorative practices, and culturally responsive)
  • Supervises and assist students on campus before and after school; instructs students in appropriate behavior; disciplines students in accordance with established guidelines
  • Serve as a member of interdisciplinary teams to address needs of at-risk students
  • Provide support in the development of Positive Behavior Support Plans
  • Assist parents/families in identifying community resources and support
  • Work cooperatively with community agencies involved with students and families
  • Provide support for students in crisis
Other
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or Superintendent

The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
