Job summary

PHILLIPS PROGRAMS is seeking a Student Support Assistant - Special Education in Fairfax, VA. The role supports classroom staff during the school day and after dismissal and participates in implementing teaching plans and behavior programs.

Qualifications

• Experience in crisis prevention/intervention is required.
• Experience in applied behavior analysis and behavioral supports is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom staff during the school day and after dismissal.
• Implement teaching plans and behavior programs in assigned classroom.
• Provide individualized instruction and supervision for students on and off campus.
• Assist in large group activities.
• Assist Behavior Staff when available.
• Assist with computer entry of behavior data when needed.
• Check and restock supplies such as point cards, day notes, weekly paychecks, behavior sheets, etc.
• Assist staff involved in special projects (fundraising, inventories, bulk mailing, field trips, off-campus training).

What the Student Support Assistant does:

In coordination with the Behavior Department and Classroom staff, Student Support Assistants provide support as assigned to classroom staff both during the school day and after dismissal.

Additional duties include:

• Assists in assigned classroom by implementing teaching plans and behavior programs.
• Provides individualized instruction and supervision for students on and off campus.
• Assists in large group activities.
• Assists Behavior Staff when available.
• Assists with computer entry of behavior data when needed.

• Assists staff involved in special projects, i.e., fund raising, inventories, bulk mailing, field trips, off-campus training and the like.

What the Student Support Assistant brings to the team:

• Bachelor's Degree in psychology, education or related field, highly preferred
• Experience in crisis prevention/intervention required
• Experience in applied behavior analysis, functional assessment, positive behavioral supports, behavior programming and behavioral counseling preferred
