Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 48 semester hours or associate’s degree or WorkKeys plus two college courses or 96 contact hours.
• Experience driving large vehicles with passengers.
• Ability to operate a school bus and follow safety regulations.
• Ability to support instruction and monitor student behavior.
• Strong communication with teachers, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists teacher with instruction and evaluation.
• Monitors student behavior and maintains classroom discipline.
• Promotes student safety and independence.
• Provides one-on-one academic assistance when needed.
• Operates the school bus on assigned routes and schedule.
• Follows traffic laws and bus regulations; performs post-trip inspection.
• Maintains safety and a progressive discipline plan.
• Secures the bus and checks for remaining passengers.
• Maintains relationships with parents and school personnel.
• Performs other related tasks as required.
