Job summary

Roosevelt School District 66 seeks a Classroom/Student Aide to assist students in classrooms with personal health, hygiene and learning tasks, and to provide assistance to Teachers as needed.

The role includes supervising students, transporting equipment, maintaining records, communicating with parents, and following district policies. Ninth-month position with hourly pay and benefits per board policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• CPR and First Aid certificates for infants, children and adults.
• Experience working with severely handicapped students or young adults preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists pre-school and elementary students with personal health and hygiene training and individual assistance; supports teachers as needed.
• Guides students to and from facilities, monitors conduct, and takes attendance; enters data into tracking system.
• Documents issues and submits daily reports; assists with clerical duties, copying and record keeping.
• Assists students with hygiene and self-help skills such as feeding, toileting and dressing.
• Assists special-needs students with positioning and movement using assistive equipment as needed.
• Cleans and sanitizes rooms, surfaces, toys and other areas as needed.
• Assists students with learning tasks and IEPs.
• Communicates with parents, students and staff while maintaining confidentiality.
• Enforces district policies and reports concerns to supervisor or Principal.
• Transports equipment and supplies for special needs students and ensures delivery to teachers.
• Monitors and assists during meals and recess; maintains the established schedule.
• Use a variety of activities and materials approved by supervising teacher.
• Works with general and special education teachers; supervises students as assigned.
