Job summary

The Academic Adviser at St. Mary’s University will provide proactive academic advising, intervention, and programming to support the Academic Advising Plan for undergraduate freshmen and sophomore students and other populations.

The role includes guiding enrollment activities, transfer articulation, degree planning, and registration with emphasis on timely progress toward graduation. The position requires collaborating with faculty, departments, and career development to ensure student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Education, Higher Education Counseling/Administration, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive academic advising, intervention, and programming to support undergraduate freshmen and sophomores and other student populations.
• Facilitate enrollment for new students, including transfer articulation, degree planning, and registration.
• Maintain accurate records of interactions and monitor degree progression using DegreeWorks (GPS) and other systems.
• Guide students through academic policies, course selections, and progress toward degree completion.
• Advise transfer students on articulation and scheduling; collaborate with faculty and departments for curricular planning.
