Job summary

District #126 is seeking a school counselor to maintain counseling services and student support within the school. The role involves meeting students as scheduled, coordinating group and individual sessions, and guiding families to community resources.

The counselor will uphold confidentiality, collaborate with staff and families, pursue ongoing professional development, and apply counseling methods to support student growth and learning goals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of counseling theory and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Maintain schedule of counseling sessions and meet with students at scheduled times.
• Coordinate group and individual counseling sessions.
• Organize meetings with outside resources and schools.
• Provide students and families with information about community resources and assist with access to services.
• Maintain documents per state and federal laws.
• Foster positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Maintain confidentiality in communication and interactions.
• Engage in professional growth and development.
• Use counseling techniques to develop student decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborate with outside agencies to meet student needs.
• Seek improvements to the counseling program based on feedback.
