Job summary

Somerset Community College invites applications for a Student Support Specialist II-Coordinator Ready to Work Program. The KCTCS Ready to Work (RTW) program is a partnership between the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and the KY Cabinet for Health & Family Services, Department for Community Based Services.

This position will identify, recruit, and support low-income/at-risk KTAP eligible students who are enrolled or interested in enrolling in postsecondary education and those

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
• Two years related experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Follow and enforce policies and procedures to identify and serve Ready to Work students.
• Assist with campus-based budget needs and grant funding dispersal with the business office.
• Develop work experience and work-study placements with local employers.
• Facilitate and maintain communication with case managers and community agencies.
• Supervise and mentor work-study students and liaise with employers.
• Provide advising for students regarding academic and career goals.
• Help in securing academic classroom training for college entrance and employment.
• Assist with filing College entrance applications, financial aid, and work-study forms.
• Recruit potential Ready to Work eligible students.
• Counsel students on economic self-sufficiency.
• Compile, review, maintain, and safeguard student records.
• Assist students with job placement opportunities.
• Provide pre and post assessment/career services when applicable.
• Provide/assist students with ESL training and essential workplace skills.
• Provide tutoring or referrals to Student Support Services.
• Maintain personnel records and perform other duties as assigned.
