Job Description

Job Title: Student Success Coordinator

Reports to: Campus Principal

Dept./School: Legacy/Memorial

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: Instructional 3, 205 days

Primary Purpose:

Coordinate the district program for students in at-risk situations. Collaborate with district staff and outside personnel to provide educational and career opportunities for students in at-risk situations.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification/Experience

Bachelor's Degree

Experience in Social Work, Education or Related Field

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to organize and coordinate district wide program

Ability to interpret data

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Familiarity with the juvenile judicial system

Through understanding of school operations to include services to at-risk populations

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Program Management

  • Implement procedures to identify and monitor at-risk students in grades 8-12 including review and maintenance of student data.
  • Provide students in at-risk situations with alternative course work through curriculum modification and acceleration.
  • Lead the high school MTSS team.
  • Lead the PACE + (credit recovery) placement process.
  • Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the at-risk program and implement changes based on the findings.
  • Promote a positive school/organizational climate.
  • Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Communicate effectively with all stake-holders.
  • Monitor attendance and assist with truancy interventions. Attend truancy court.
  • Collaborate with campus staff to ensure supplemental instructional support for students
  • Gather, maintain and distribute data for an at-risk student database for tracking interventions and student progress for guidance, administrative, and instructional purposes.
  • Collaborate as a liaison between school, community and parents.
  • Coordinate the high school Parental Involvement program.
  • Meet regularly with parents and conduct home visits.
  • Prepare and present program progress updates for stakeholders.
  • Maintains time and effort documentation.

Budget and Inventory

  • Ensure that programs are cost effective and that at-risk funds are managed wisely.
  • Compile budget and cost estimates based on documented program needs.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
  • Design and provide professional development as needed.

School/Community Relations

  • Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support.
  • Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  • Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  • Promote the program in the community with the goal of maintaining or increasing enrollment.

Policy, Reports, and Law

  • Work with data processing staff to assure accurate PEIMS reporting and to assure an adequate tracking of at-risk students.
  • Assist with the collection, processing, and distribution of at-risk data and interpret this information for guidance, administrative, and instructional purposes.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy.
