Student Store Clerk

Compensation and Benefits
  • Base Rate: $16.87
  • Performance Pay: Available annually
  • Experience Bonus: 1% of the base hourly rate for each year of verified similar experience beyond the requirement (up to ten years)
  • Education Bonus: 1% of the base hourly rate for an AA or higher degree if not required
Position Details
  • Class/Calendar: A12, 9.25 months
  • Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • FSLA: Non-Exempt

Overview

To provide student store services for students, staff, and parents; to direct, guide, and monitor students working in the store.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous school employment preferred
  • Moderate proficiency in typing with accuracy; high math aptitude
  • Ability to operate standard business machines including cash register, adding machine, and calculator
  • Computer proficiency with basic software (Word, Excel, Email)
  • Knowledge of retail principles including cash handling, accounting, and inventory management
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to work with interruptions and minimal supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with students, staff, parents, and the public
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs and stand for long periods
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide students, including those with special needs, in store operations
  • Order supplies, manage inventory, communicate with vendors, and prepare requisitions
  • Sell school supplies, conduct inventories, and prepare reports
  • Balance cash drawer, prepare bank deposits, and district reports
  • Administer tests or quizzes to monitor student progress
  • Coordinate with supervising teachers regarding student progress
  • Maintain store appearance to enhance merchandising and sales
  • Support other personnel as needed
