Job summary

Ascend Schools in Brooklyn seeks an Assistant Principal of Student Services to ensure academic, emotional, and physical support for students needing extra help. You will work with instructional leaders to maintain compliance with special education regulations and coordinate services to deliver high-quality education.

You will observe and coach teachers, develop intervention plans, manage IEPs/504 plans, and lead data-driven meetings with families and staff to support outcomes for all scholars in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least three years of teaching experience with a track record of elevating student achievement.
• At least one year of experience leading and coaching a team of adults.
• Experience teaching in underserved urban areas is preferred.
• Strong organization, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Commitment to urban education and closing the achievement gap.

Responsibilities

• Observe, coach, and supervise teachers to ensure engaging and rigorous instruction.
• Develop and lead academic intervention plans.
• Manage compliance with special education regulations and IEPs.
• Coordinate with the Office of Special Education and related service providers.
• Ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented.
• Lead data-driven meetings to monitor at-risk students.
• Prepare and review 504 plans.
• Collaborate with families and staff to create individualized education plans.
• Participate in grade-level meetings and professional development.
