Responsibilities

  • Coordinates program activities, which may include orientation, outreach, research, and other functions; coordinates daily events with designated Administrator to ensure timely and appropriate coordination of program and office activities.

  • Attends meetings, conferences, orientations, outreach activities, and seminars to make presentations regarding program policies and procedures.
  • Designs and implements related electronic platforms and applications to advance the program of assignments, which may include various coding and configurations to achieve necessary deliverables.
  • Provide information and guidance to students, faculty, staff, and public in a designated area of student services.
  • Coordinates communication and collaboration with other District departments and personnel, governmental agencies, private agencies and vendors.
  • Gathers data and prepares statistical reports as directed; ensures compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and state and federal laws; maintains a variety of difficult and complex documents records, statements and reports.

Student Services Coordinator/Disability Support Services

Special Instructions Summary

Work Schedule: District employees can apply for the Flexible/Hybrid Work Program, working a hybrid schedule of remote work and in-person each week. Approval and number of in-person days may vary by position/department. Questions regarding the work schedule may be discussed with Hiring Manager if selected as an interview candidate.

This position is grant funded and exists based on the availability of funds. Employment is contingent upon the continuous availability of funds.
This is a classified position subject to a six-month probationary period. Initial salary placement will be determined by the Office of Human Resources in accordance with Board Policy and is not negotiable. The candidate selected for employment will be required to provide the following: identification and employment eligibility as outlined in the Immigration Reform and Control Act, fingerprints and required medical certification pursuant to statue. NOCCCD will not sponsor any visa applications.

Minimum Qualifications - Experience: One year of experience is equivalent to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week (full time). Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for the sole purpose of meeting the experience minimum qualification (Example: Twelve (12) months of part-time work experience is equivalent to six (6) months full time). Minimum Qualifications - Education: 24 units are equal to one year of education. Primary Purpose

POSITION IS GRANT FUNDED

This position is responsible for coordinating one or more student services program activities; implementing policies and procedures; and performing a variety of complex program coordination duties, which may include research, facilitation, coordination of a student service program as assigned including budget functions in the absence of the designated Administrator to assure efficient operations.

Ensures implementation and maintenance of established District policies and procedures; ensures compliance with state and federal laws, policies and procedures related to student program; assists in the development of district policies and procedures, which may include projects, policy manuals, training guides, and scheduling protocols as necessary.
Serves as an assistant to designated administrator; schedules meetings, events and appointments; prepares agenda items; maintains records and supplies; receives and processes incoming mail. Makes decisions within established policies and procedures in the absence of designated administrator. Participates in the development and implementation of SLOs/SAOs and program review.
Develops and coordinates outreach services, including communication with high schools, colleges and community organizations. Develop and coordinate outreach, informational materials, trainings, and workshops.
Attends meetings, conferences, orientations, outreach activities, and seminars to make presentations regarding program policies and procedures. Answers questions and provides technical expertise to assist public, students, and staff regarding assigned student services programs.
Designs and implements related electronic platforms and applications to advance the program of assignments, which may include various coding and configurations to achieve necessary deliverables.
Provide information and guidance to students, faculty, staff, and public in a designated area of student services. Assists students in completing college related forms.
Coordinates communication and collaboration with other District departments and personnel, governmental agencies, private agencies and vendors.
Gathers data and prepares statistical reports as directed; ensures compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and state and federal laws; maintains a variety of difficult and complex documents records, statements and reports.
Assists in the preparation and monitoring of programs/department budgets; processes budget transfers and prepares journal entries; monitors budget activities of assigned categorically funded programs; prepares expenditure and progress reports as required by funding agencies.
Audits program documents to assure accuracy, completeness; conduct research to resolve discrepancies as necessary.
Supervises, trains, evaluates and directs the work of assigned staff as directed.
Learns and applies emerging technologies and advances as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.
Participate in District/College efforts to increase the diversity of faculty and staff and to address student achievement gaps; attend and participate in diversity, equity and inclusion trainings and events; active assistance in the creation of a welcoming and inclusive work and educational environment.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Special Requirements

This position requires a valid driver’s license. Incumbent may be required to travel off site for business reasons. All employees driving personal, leased, or district-owned vehicles for District related activities must certify possession of a valid Driver’s License. Employees must certify that personal vehicles are covered by automobile insurance as required by California law. This position is on an alternative 9/80 schedule:
The “9/80” workweek/workday schedule for a full-time Unit Member comprises eighty (80) hours in two (2) calendar weeks consisting of a fixed schedule of four (4) workdays at nine (9) hours each and one (1) workday at eight (8) hours in one calendar week and four (4) workdays at nine (9) hours each in the other calendar week. Minimum Qualifications

Sixty (60) semester units and five (5) years of experience or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferably in a field related to the assignment;
Three years of increasingly responsible professional experience within an environment with high emphasis on customer service and program coordination preferably in an educational setting.

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience working in a Disability Support Programs Services (DSPS) office at a California Community College in an administrative capacity

Prior experience in approaching work and interactions with colleagues and/or students in an equity minded manner. Ability to provide an inclusive and welcoming work/educational environment.
The ability to address the needs of diverse student and/or employee populations.
