Job summary

The TES EAGLES Student Services Coach at Auburn University supports students with intellectual disabilities in the EAGLES program while a regular staff member is on leave. The coach focuses on two areas of student development: Personal & Social skills and Health & Wellness.

This includes coaching students on social skills, healthy relationships and self-advocacy; leading skill-building activities and events; promoting healthy habits; and tracking student progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver personal and social skills lessons and activities in small-group and individual settings.
• Coach students on social skills, healthy relationships, boundaries and consent, conflict resolution, self-advocacy, and appropriate phone and social media use.
• Help students participate in campus clubs, organizations and events, and help plan social activities that give students real-world practice.
• Observe students, collect data and complete personal and social skill assessments each term.
• Coordinate health and wellness programming, including a peer wellness group and partnerships with campus and community organizations.
• Plan and lead health and wellness events and activities that promote physical activity, nutrition and healthy routines.
• Meet regularly with an assigned group of students, track their progress and follow up on concerns.
