Job summary

University of California, Merced is seeking a part-time Student Service Advisor to support New Student Orientation and related programming on-site in Merced. You will work with Orientation staff to implement recruitment efforts, learning workshops, campus outreach, and manage the Orientation center website.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and strong communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Basic knowledge of UC Merced programs and policies (Preferred).
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of and experience managing websites and social media. (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assists New Student Orientation professional staff with implementation of recruitment and planning efforts for Orientation.
  • Manage registration processes and tracking (in-line with move-in processes).
  • Develop master timelines for facilities, work orders, and permits.
  • Coordinate space reservations and room setup.
  • Plan and execute information fairs.
  • Assist students, parents, and guests with Orientation registration questions and issues.
  • Updating the Banner system with Orientation cancellations and no shows.
  • Co-Supervise Orientation Logistics Leaders Student Staff.

The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.The hourly range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $22.32 - 27.40.

This is a temporary position.

About the Job

Under close supervision of higher level Orientation professionals the Student Service Advisor is focused on support of New Student Orientation. This position will work with Orientation staff to implement New Student Orientation programming and recruitment efforts, learning workshops, campus outreach, and management of Orientation center website.

Qualifications
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor Degree in related field from an accredited institution.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
