Job summary

Rockdale County in Georgia is seeking a School Crossing Guard to escort students safely across intersections before and after school. The position is hourly and seasonal, and staff are on-duty only when school is in session.

Responsibilities include monitoring traffic, stopping vehicles as needed, ensuring pedestrian safety, and reporting misconduct. A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Georgia driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of traffic laws and safety principles.

• Ability to direct children and traffic simultaneously.

• Ability to learn and understand traffic signals and hand signals.
• Ability to use hand held sign and whistle.

Responsibilities

• Assists children in safely crossing intersections to and from school.
• Records license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals and reports infractions to law enforcement.
• Monitors and stops traffic to ensure that children can safely cross the street.
• Reports misconduct of students.
