Job summary

DeKalb County School District is seeking an experienced School Crossing Guard to help ensure the safe movement of students crossing roadways and intersections near our schools. This position emphasizes vigilance, clear signaling with a stop sign, and adherence to traffic safety practices.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED (preferred) and a valid Georgia driver's license. Candidates will participate in monthly in-service trainings and support orderly, safe commutes for students.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• A valid Georgia driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists children on their way to and from school in safely crossing roadways and intersections
• Escorts children across the roadway or intersection while holding a stop sign in such a manner as to be visible to approaching vehicles
• Monitors the conduct of children and reports negative conduct of students to the appropriate authority
• Attends monthly in-service training and strategic planning meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
