Job summary

UPMC in Pennsylvania is seeking a Student Respiratory Care Assistant to support respiratory therapy through equipment handling, assembly, transport and routine maintenance of respiratory care devices.

Under supervision of a respiratory therapist, you'll assist with bronchoscopy prep, non-emergent intubations, and sleep study documentation while using EHR systems and ePro for orders and records.

Qualifications

• Assists with assembly, transport, cleaning and calibration of respiratory care equipment.
• Maintains infection control practices during handling and transport of equipment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic health records for ordering and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit service excellence by addressing patient and staff needs.
• Maintain oxygen supplies and cylinders in inpatient areas.
• Assemble, clean, and disinfect respiratory care equipment; calibrate per specs.
• Transport equipment between units following infection control protocols.
• Report equipment malfunctions and assist with tracking and maintenance.
• Assist bronchoscopy and non-emergent procedures prep and wrap-up as directed by therapists.
