Job summary

Florida Gulf Coast University is seeking a Student Resident Assistant for the 2027-2028 academic year within the Housing & Residence Life department. The RA will help create a positive on-campus living experience by building community and fostering relationships through one-on-one conversations and large-scale events.

Utilizing the Residential Curriculum, the RA will participate in programs across CONNECT, ENGAGE, BALANCE, and IMPACT, developing leadership skills, mentorship, and practical

• Currently enrolled as FGCU student throughout the appointment.
• Be in good conduct standing within the university.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.50.
• Capable of standing and walking for extended periods, up to 4 hours at a time.
• Available for on-call duties with the ability to respond quickly to urgent tasks.
• Available to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Supports the department's vision, mission, core values and residential curriculum.
• Builds community, mediates conflicts, and encourages healthy habits with residents.
• Participates in and attends university functions.
• Supports departmental programs and functions.
• Assists residents with understanding University policies and procedures and encourages residents to get involved.
• Aids with the evacuation of residents and shelter management during emergencies.
• Completes all training requirements, including spring and fall training, prior to and while serving in the RA position.
• Participates in residence hall openings and closing including move-in and move-out.
• Completes 20 hours per week on assigned tasks within the building including front desk coverage and other responsibilities.
• Serves on-call and conducts rounds of residence halls in their building/neighborhood.
• Provides emergency and crisis intervention.
• Reports facility issues and assists residents with maintenance requests.

Job Description

Other Duties:

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
