Job summary

Houston Community College is seeking a Recruitment and Outreach Specialist to develop and implement strategies that meet enrollment goals in the Houston area. You will build relationships with ISDs, counselors, employers, and community organizations to attract diverse students for dual credit and programs.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 3 years related experience, with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit students in compliance with policy; recruit high school juniors and seniors for dual credit.
  • Foster relationships with ISDs; be primary contact between College and counselors/students for onboarding.
  • Assess and promptly respond to needs of prospective students, applicants, and parents through various channels.
  • Establish a recruitment plan to fill the prospective and applicant pipelines and increase conversions.
  • Collaborate with departments to assist students in completing checklist items and enroll.
  • Maintain knowledge of all HCC programs including academic, workforce, adult education, and non-credit programs.
  • Provide detailed information regarding career and pathways planning, admissions, and enrollment processes.
  • Lead information sessions on admission requirements for internal and prospective students, virtually and in person.
  • Coordinate participation in college recruitment fairs, conferences, and outreach events with marketing materials.
  • Develop a network with external businesses, churches, and agencies to promote HCC programs.
  • Host recruitment fairs and outreach events to attract new students; support District events.
  • Maintain an accurate log in CRM of touchpoints and engagement with prospects and applicants.
  • Identify and coordinate assessment procedures for individuals entering HCC programs.
  • Manage a caseload of prospects; generate and distribute recruitment reports via CRM.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Public Information on marketing materials and presentations.

Job description

Assists in developing and implementing student recruitment and outreach, designed to meet enrollment goals in targeted geographic areas and specific student populations; maintain an ongoing presence in assigned Independent School Districts (ISDs) and neighboring community-based organizations; strategize on opportunities to enhance recruitment efforts and implement identified strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Recruit students in compliance with HCC's Non-Discrimination Policy; recruit high school junior and senior students for various dual credit courses.

Foster relationships with assigned ISDs, be the primary contact between the College and high school counselors/students for the onboarding of students.

Assess and promptly respond to the needs and concerns of prospective students, applicants, and parents through various communication mediums.

Establish a recruitment plan to continuously fill the prospective and applicant student pipeline; increase the conversion rate(s) of graduating high school students and other student pipelines.

Collaborate with various departments to assist students in completing checklist items; communicate with the student pipeline to move across to enrollment.

Establish and maintain a thorough knowledge of all programs at HCC, including but not limited to academic, workforce, adult education, and non-credit programs.

Provide detailed information regarding career and pathways planning, admissions, and enrollment processes.

Lead and facilitate information sessions and sessions on admission requirements for internal and prospective students, virtually and in person.

Work closely with specific departments on recruitment initiatives; attend recruitment functions of high schools, colleges, community fairs, partner events.

Develop a network with external businesses, churches, and other agencies, to promote HCC programs.

Host recruitment fairs and similar outreach events throughout the year to attract new students to HCC; support recruitment activities and District sponsored Outreach and Recruitment events.

Maintain an accurate log within the CRM of personal touchpoints and engagement activities with prospective and applicants.

Identify and coordinate assessment procedures for individuals entering HCC programs.

Manage a caseload of prospects and applicants; generate and distribute recruitment reports via the CRM.

Collaborate with the Office of Public Information to develop marketing materials, recruitment presentations and promotional materials.

In collaboration with admission staff and COEs across the district, coordinate participation in college recruitment fairs, conferences, and related outreach events utilizing marketing materials.

Perform other duties, tasks, and assignments as required.

Working Conditions
