Student Program Administrator – Membership Department

We’re seeking a motivated professional to support and grow our student outreach and professional membership programs. This role works closely with membership and board services teams and partner organizations to help ensure a strong pipeline of future talent for the iron and steel industry.

AIST is a leading nonprofit representing more than 18,000 members across 70+ countries, dedicated to advancing the technical development, production, and application of iron and steel. We promote knowledge‑sharing, innovation, and workforce development through global conferences, training programs, scholarships, and technical publications.

The role engages students and faculty, coordinates student‑focused activities, collaborates with partners, creates marketing content, and delivers excellent member service to an international audience.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary contact for students, faculty, and campus groups.
  • Support student chapters and initiatives that build participation and leadership.
  • Coordinate student‑focused activities and events (virtual and in‑person).
  • Support students moving to early‑career professional membership.
  • Respond to member inquiries and provide high‑quality customer service.
  • Perform routine membership tasks and maintain accurate records in an association database.
  • Assist with routine fulfillment and general administrative support for the department.
  • Draft and edit content for student program marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote programs across web, email, social, and print.
  • Maintain consistent, professional communication with a diverse, global audience.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience.
  • Comfort working in databases/CRMs and with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in a nonprofit or association environment (preferred).
  • Proficient in iMIS or other Association Management Systems (preferred).
  • Cross‑cultural communication or international stakeholder experience (preferred).
  • Collaborative, team‑oriented work style (preferred).
