Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapy Assistant student implements Occupational therapy programs and provides treatments to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under supervision of an Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student will follow all Powerback Rehabilitation policy and procedures outlined in onboarding and orientation.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences, and other meetings as a representative of Occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of rehab services; adherence to an established plan of care, department and patient schedules, and timely documentation of services with supervision of the Clinical Instructor.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities suited to each patient's needs and capabilities, under supervision of the Clinical Instructor.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student instructs patients, families, and caregivers in skills and techniques of the Occupational therapy treatment program, under supervision.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all treated patients, with supervision.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student cleans, maintains, reports equipment needs, and repairs as necessary, with supervision.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student prioritizes patient service, ensuring high-quality, compassionate care that recognizes individual needs and rights, under supervision.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student implements individualized treatment plans established by the primary Occupational Therapist, under supervision.

• Under supervision, the Occupational Therapy Assistant Student provides interventions in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, physical agent modalities.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student performs other related duties as required, under supervision.
