Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapy Assistant student implements Occupational therapy programs and provides Occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.

• Follow all Powerback Rehabilitation policies and procedures outlined in onboarding and orientation.

• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other required meetings as a representative of Occupational therapy, under supervision.

• Deliver rehab services effectively and efficiently; adhere to established care plans, department and patient schedules, and document services timely under supervision.

• Work with the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities suited to each patient's needs and capabilities under supervision.

• Instruct patients, families, and caregivers in occupational therapy skills and techniques under supervision.

• Maintain appropriate and timely documentation for all treated patients under supervision.

• Clean, maintain, and report equipment needs under supervision.

• Prioritize patient service: ensure high-quality, compassionate care respecting individual needs and rights under supervision.

• Implement individualized treatment plans established by the primary Occupational Therapist under supervision.

• Provide interventions in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and physical agent modalities.

• Organize and facilitate treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.

• Perform other related duties as required under supervision.
