Job summary

The State of Georgia, through the South Georgia Technical College campus in Americus, invites you to join a Federal Work-Study education assistant role. The position offers hands-on clerical support in a university-style office environment and pays $10.00 per hour with a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Applicants must be enrolled for Fall 2026, eligible for FWS, and ready to complete background checks and Georgia HR paperwork.

Qualifications

Must be enrolled in Fall Semester 2026 for at least six (6) credit hours.
Must be approved for Federal Student Aid for the applicable award year.
Must be eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program.
Must be making satisfactory academic progress.
Must complete a criminal background check and/or credit check, if applicable.
Must complete all required State of Georgia employment paperwork through the Human Resources Office before beginning work.
Students may not begin working until all required hiring process has been completed and approved.

Responsibilities

Provide general office support: filing, copying, bulk scanning, data entry, word processing, faxing, shredding, and clerical tasks.
Answer telephone calls and assist customers with inquiries.
Distribute memos and help with routine documentation.
Assist instructors with administrative duties as needed.
Maintain accurate records and handle information confidentially.
