General Summary of Position

Job Summary:
The SNA role is a fantastic opportunity to complement and enhance the experiences in your nursing program. In the role ofSNA, you will providedirecthands-on experience while growing in your skills and confidence.Once you are confident in this role, you will be able to function independently.

Under the direction of an RN, you will assist the care team with daily tasks fromformulating, implementing, and organizing care interventions for a group of patients to provide a safe and efficient environment. You will also assist with preparing patients for transfer or discharge. Hands-on care will focus on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and personal hygiene, as well as patient mobilization and rehabilitation. Basic procedures such as simple dressing changes and wound care, urinary catheter care, perineal care, specimen collection, and performing EKGs will be reinforced in this role.

This is an excellent pathway to build a relationship on the unit where you may have an interest in starting your career as a new to practice nurse!

Start Date: July 7th – no other start dates will be offered for the summer

Schedule:The SNA role offers a very flexible schedule – not just for the summer, but well into your upcoming semester(s).

  • To successfully acclimate into the role and build the confidence to function independently, you should plan on working at least two 12-hour shifts per week for a period of three to four weeks after new hire orientation to complete unit-based orientation and competencies. *The more hours you can work, the better your experience will be.
  • You are permitted to work up to full-time hours (36 hours per week) over the summer, if desired.
  • Once your fall semester begins, a minimum of 24 hours per six-week schedule will be required to remain actively employed. Additional hours (above this requirement) are allowed.

Pay: $18.77 per hour

Education/Training: Active enrollment in an accredited RN or LPN program; Must be graduating in December 2026 or May 2027. Fundamentals of Nursing (may be titled differently) must be successfully completed. Official transcripts will be required at time of hire and at the end of each semester to validate active enrollment.

Experience:No clinical experience outside of nursing school is required.

License/Certification:CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification by the Maryland Board of Nursing is required; BLS (CPR for Healthcare Providers) certification.
