Barnes-Jewish Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, seeks a Student Nurse Tech for the 3500 Observation Unit on the South Campus. You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision, support family education, and help prepare patients for tests and procedures in a fast-paced, 24-bed unit.

Ideal for new graduates pursuing Emergency or acute care nursing with a foundational nursing skills background. PRN scheduling supports varied shifts within the unit's operations.

3500 Observation Unit | South Campus (24 Beds) - Student Nurse Tech

PRN - Nursing Fundementals must be completed to qualify.

Join our 24-bed Observation Unit, where you'll care for patients requiring short-term treatment, monitoring, and recovery, typically within a 24-hour stay.

Overview

Role Purpose

Provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health.

Responsibilities

• Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
• Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
