Job summary

CHI Health Plainview is seeking a Student Nurse Tech to support RN staff with direct patient care and hands-on clinical learning. You will document delegated tasks for surgical and medical patients and assist with admissions, transports, and basic comfort measures.

Ideal candidates are enrolled nursing students or recent graduates with CPR/BLS, strong attention to detail, empathy, and effective communication. This entry-level role offers valuable clinical exposure in a small, acute-care setting.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment and in good standing in nursing program.
  • Recent nursing program graduate or in transition to RN licensure.
  • CPR/BLS certification required or on hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under RN supervision and document delegated tasks.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers; orient patients and families.
  • Maintain a neat, organized workspace; stock and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Observe patient conditions and communicate changes to RN; participate in QA initiatives.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Student Nurse Tech, you will provide essential direct patient care support under RN supervision, gaining vital hands-on clinical experience.

Every day, you will perform and document delegated patient care tasks for diverse medical/surgical patients, seeking guidance as needed and contributing to a dynamic clinical environment.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong passion for nursing, meticulous detail, empathy, and excellent communication, prioritizing patient needs and a commitment to learning.

  • Provides patient personal care/hygiene and physical comfort within assigned tasks, including feeding, bathing, shaving, changing clothes, bed making, ambulation, lifting, turning, moving, transferring, enemas, skin care and bowel/bladder elimination. Provides such additional care as required to meet the personal primary needs and comfort of assigned patient based on skill, ability, and patient acuity. Prepares patient, equipment and supplies for specific procedures/examinations.
  • Performs, monitors, reports and documents all clinical activities within assigned tasks. Observes and reports changes in patient condition to the RN.
  • Assists nursing staff in the admission, discharge and transfer of patient by performing activities such as inventory/storing patient belongings, providing patient with relevant personal care/comfort items, orienting patient/family and transporting patient to room or other location using wheelchairs, stretchers or patient bed.
  • Provides patient information to nursing staff for inclusion in the interdisciplinary plan of care; documents relevant patient data in accordance with work unit standards.
  • Maintains a neat and organized work environment. Orders, stocks and replenishes supplies and equipment as necessary, identifies and reports problems with supplies or equipment; enters equipment repair request in system, tags equipment and removes from service.
  • Participates in quality assurance/improvement initiatives and activities. Participates in growth opportunities. Actively participates in ongoing education and orientation to the role of an RN, remaining within scope at all times.

  • Licensed Practical Nurse: NE, upon hire or
  • Registered Nurse: NE, upon hire and

Pay Range

$15.67 - $22.14 /hour
