The role you’ll contribute:

Delivers basic patient care, including activities of daily living, mobility using safe patient handling techniques, and vital signs. Works collaboratively with a designated registered nurse to enhance basic nursing skills such as wound care, dressing changes, IV insertion and removal, urinary catheter management, blood glucose management, NG insertion, and management, in accordance with Division of Nursing standards. This role provides exposure to holistic nursing practice, applying new knowledge, and expanding career opportunities.

• Assists in delivering patient care as a team member by performing patient care tasks under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Performs proper and legible documentation and reports all procedures according to department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history, evaluates age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms, and collaborates with RN to meet patient needs. Reports abnormalities to RN.
• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities, demonstrating accurate documentation and monitoring of activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills. Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth department operations.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Must be currently enrolled in a nursing program or have completed one within the past year without obtaining RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
