Job summary

UPMC's Student Nurse Internship (SNI) program offers a 10-week paid Summer 2027 opportunity to put your nursing school learning into practice. You will work one-on-one with a preceptor to see a day in the life of a nurse at UPMC and participate in supplementary educational sessions to advance your skills.

You will work at UPMC Western Maryland in Cumberland, MD, shadow additional areas of nursing, and have up to 40 hours per week with scheduling accommodations.

• Participate in supplementary educational sessions to continue your learning journey
• Shadow at least one additional area of nursing during your hospital placement
• Work up to 40 hours/week with scheduling accommodations as needed
• Apply to system-wide Graduate Nurse opportunities before you finish the summer program

About the Program

UPMC's Student Nurse Internship (SNI) program allows you to put what you learned in nursing school into practice by working side-by-side with a preceptor. This is a temporary 10-week paid opportunity during the Summer of 2027.

During the internship you will have the opportunity to:

• Work one-on-one with a trained preceptor to see a day in the life of a nurse at UPMC
• Participate in supplementary educational sessions to continue your learning journey
• Build your confidence as a future nurse
• Work at one hospital for the summer (Assignment shared at time of offer)
• Shadow at least one additional area of nursing at your hospital placement
• Work up to 40 hours/week (SNIs follow their preceptor's schedule; we understand obligations may not permit you to work a full-time schedule, we can accommodate!)
• Apply to system-wide Graduate Nurse opportunities at UPMC before you even leave the summer program
• Network with UPMC Nursing Leadership and receive mentorship
• Give back to the community
