Job summary

UPMC’s Student Nurse Internship (SNI) program offers a 10-week paid summer opportunity where you can apply nursing school knowledge under the guidance of a preceptor. You will gain hands-on experience and participate in educational sessions to advance your learning journey.

You may work up to 40 hours per week, with placement at a UPMC facility (assignment shared at time of offer) and opportunities to apply to system-wide Graduate Nurse roles after the program.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with a preceptor to observe a day in the life of a nurse at UPMC.
• Participate in educational sessions to continue learning.
• Shadow multiple areas of nursing as assigned.
• Work up to 40 hours per week during the 10-week program.

About the Program

UPMC’s Student Nurse Internship (SNI) program allows you to put what you learned in nursing school into practice by working side-by-side with a preceptor.This is a temporary 10-week paid opportunity during the Summer of 2027.

During the internship you will have the opportunity to:

• Work one-on-one with a trained preceptor to see a day in the life of a nurse at UPMC
• Participate in supplementary educational sessions to continue your learning journey
• Build your confidence as a future nurse
• Work at one hospital for the summer (*Assignment shared at time of offer)
• Shadow at least one additional area of nursing at your hospital placement
• Work up to 40 hours/week (SNIs follow their preceptor’s schedule; we understand obligations may not permit you to work a full-time schedule, we can accommodate!)tle
• Apply to system-wide Graduate Nurse opportunities at UPMC before you even leave the summer program
• Network with UPMC Nursing Leadership and receive mentorship
