Responsibilities

Mercy Medical Center is offering an externship program for qualified nursing students beginning in June 2026. This program will allow the student to reinforce their learning experience in school with patient care and organizational skills under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The extern program will start on June 9th, 2026 and end on July 31st, 2026. You must be eligible to attend the full 8 weeks and available to work full time throughout the entire program. The Student Nurse Extern participates as a member of the nursing team in the delivery of quality patient care. Under the supervision of the registered nurse, the extern performs selected delegated patient care procedures, observes patient condition and reports and records information and assists the health care team with specific treatments and/or procedures in an acute or intermediate care setting.

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Must be in good standing at an accredited school for registered nursing
• Must have completed at least two semesters of clinical education
• CNA required
• BLS CPR required
