Job summary

Boone Health offers a May 2027 Graduate Nurse position including a paid practicum or preceptorship during the final nursing school semester. The role may serve as Student Nurse Apprentice, LPN, or PCT, with ongoing hours after clinicals and a focus on safety and patient-centered care.

SNAP units include Cardiology, Medical Specialties, Oncology/Neurology, Orthopedics, Surgical Specialties, and Progressive Care.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in the final year of an accredited RN or BSN program.
• No prior experience required.
• Eligibility for RN licensure in Missouri is implied by student status (GN pathway).

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse.
• Administers or assists with ADLs and monitors vital signs.
• Collects clinical data and reports changes in patient status to the RN.
• Assists with patient and family education and documents care activities.
• Participates in safety, quality, and regulatory initiatives; may serve as 1:1 sitter when needed.

Collects vital information on the patient and reports such to the RN which contributes to the overall assessment of each patient and any changes to a patient’s condition. The Nurse Apprentice may work under the direct supervision of an RN whereby advanced procedures and skills may be performed. The Nurse Apprentice may also perform duties in the Patient Care Technician role (not under direct supervision of an RN), where the Nurse Apprentice is responsible for duties delegated by the licensed professional nurse.Job Responsibilities:Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Administers or assists patients with ADL, performs VS, l&O, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, foley care, phlebotomy, or point of care testing as requested.Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse. Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided.Participates in activities that promote safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development and lifelong learning, as well as acting as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.Boone Health has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
