Job summary

Montana Tech is seeking a dedicated Student Navigator to support participants in the MT Rapid Broadband Training initiative. The role guides students from recruitment through completion, connects them with financial and community resources, and coordinates with rural partners to promote training and employment outcomes.

You will maintain records, track progress, and ensure grant compliance while working with instructors and program leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Experience working with diverse populations, including rural communities.
  • Ability to provide case management, advising, or student support services.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple students and priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools for tracking and communication.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and meet reporting requirements.

  • Assist students in overcoming barriers by connecting them to financial assistance, social services, and community resources.
  • Support recruitment and outreach efforts across rural communities, including collaboration with workforce centers, tribal colleges, high schools, and community organizations.
  • Guide students through enrollment, intake, and credential pathways, including stackable programs and credit articulation.
  • Track student progress, completion, and post-program outcomes, including employment and continued education.
  • Assist in coordinating job placement activities, apprenticeships, or transitions to further education.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to meet SCC5 grant reporting and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with instructors and program leadership to monitor retention and implement intervention strategies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts, reporting processes, and grant compliance activities.

The Montana Rapid Broadband Training (MT RBT) Navigator supports students throughout their training journey by providing guidance, connecting them with resources, and helping them successfully complete training and transition into employment.

The MT Rapid Broadband Navigator is responsible for providing comprehensive student support services for participants enrolled in broadband workforce training programs under the SCC5 funded MT Rapid Broadband Training (MT RBT) initiative. The position requires a high degree of initiative, organization, and interpersonal skill to guide students from recruitment through employment while ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Provide individualized case management, career advising, and academic planning to support student success.
  • Assist students in overcoming barriers by connecting them to financial assistance, social services, and community resources.

This position operates with moderate to high independence, requiring proactive problem-solving, consistent communication, and the ability to manage multiple students and partnerships simultaneously.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in workforce development, student advising, or case management.
  • Familiarity with broadband, technical training, or apprenticeship programs.
  • Experience working with tribal colleges, rural institutions, or underserved communities.
  • Knowledge of grant funded program operations and reporting requirements.
  • Experience coordinating outreach, recruitment, or employer engagement activities.
Physical Demands:
  • Must possess the ability to ascend, descend stairs to access various work locations.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods.
  • Ability to transport or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds with or with out a reasonable accommodation.
