City of Auburn, AL is seeking a Student Mechanic in the Environmental Services department. The role supports mechanics in diagnosing and repairing a range of vehicles and equipment, under close supervision, while enrolled in an undergraduate automotive technology program.

This position is responsible for assisting Mechanics in the diagnosis and repair of mechanical problems on a variety of vehicles and equipment. This position reports to the Fleet Services Coordinator.

Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
The work is typically performed in a garage environment. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold, hot, or inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
