Job Title: Student Maintenance Assistant

Reports To: Facilities Director

Location: Millennium Hall, Harris Hall, and Tubman House at Towson University

Compensation: $15.00-$17.00 per hour. Position works up to 30 hours per week.

FLSA Status: Student Non-Exempt

Positions Available: Multiple

Company Information:

Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM), headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, specializes in managing student housing communities owned by non-profits or closely affiliated with universities.

Summary:

The Student Maintenance Assistant assists with preventative maintenance tasks within the community. This is a temporary position ending on 09.01.2024.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. General grounds cleaning
  2. Replacing air filters
  3. Replacing smoke detector and thermostat batteries
  4. Replacing light bulbs
  5. Distributing items to apartments
  6. Performing other assigned tasks

Qualifications:

Applicants must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements include:

  • High school diploma
  • Current student at Towson University
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and navigate stairs
  • Proficiency in verbal communication
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

The work environment is mid-to-high-paced with moderate noise levels. Employees working five or more hours per day are entitled to a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, per company policy and Maryland law.

Physical demands include standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting, and lifting up to 35 pounds. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
