Job Description Summary
- Provide a safe swimming environment by enforcing rules and policies and responding to aquatic emergencies.
- Work performed at this level is done independently of supervision.
- Requires the highest level of artistic, technical, or scientific expertise.
- Provide supervision to student employees at the Student Master 2 Undergraduate level.
Essential Duties
- Work independently without direct supervision.
- Supervise student employees at the Student Master 1 Undergraduate level.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Highest level of artistic, technical, or scientific expertise.
- For academic and administrative assistance settings, perform complex research activities in the scientific field and may serve as a group leader with no supervision of administrative staff.
- For technical settings, possess advanced computer knowledge and customer‑support skills in client/server programming, relational databases, Novell, C++, TCP/IP, SQL, JAVA, Visual Basic; demonstrate leadership, mentoring, training, expert management, and business skills.
- Maintain a professional environment for fellow employees and clients.
- Approve supervisory functions, provide expert leadership, and approve schedules.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
Additional Position Information
- Perform water rescues including back boarding, passive and active rescues.
- Perform CPR.
- Conduct ventilations and first aid procedures, such as inline stabilization, applying ice, and bandaging.
- Enforce rules and regulations designed for safe use of the Aquatic Center.
- Perform blood‑borne pathogen cleanup.
- Complete accident and incident reports.
- Certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED and First Aid or equivalent; cross‑over or training required within 30 days of hiring.
